[Phytomorphology] Perennial herb. The main root is either spindle-shaped or obovate, usually 2 consecutive, and the lateral roots (daughter roots) of several hypertrophs often appear around the main root of the cultivated product. Stems erect, 60-150 cm tall, recurved pubescent above middle, equidistant leaves, branches. The lower leaves of the stem withered during flowering. Stem middle leaves alternate; leaf blade leathery or papery, pentagonal, 6-11 cm long, 9-15 cm wide, base shallowly cordate, palmately trisected or sub-divided to near base, central lobe often wide Rhomboid, acutely pointed at tip, sometimes subpinnately divided, obliquely deltoid two-lobed, laterally divided into two undivided lobes, surface sparsely pubescent, abaxially often veined sparsely pubescent; petiole 1-2.5 cm , sparsely pubescent.
